  Making the connection between Ann Simpson who married William Braithwaite and the Ann Simpson whos was the daughter of John & Agnes Simpson was note easy. The Ann Simpson who married William Braithwaite had a father called John Simpson, which matched. However, in the various census in which I found her, her age varied all over the place, but did include the period for which I had a baptism as the daughter of John & Agnes Simpson. In order to further test the connection I looked at all records of an Ann Simpson getting married between 1846 and 1860 in the Ulverston area. There were 11 such marriages and I was able to rule 10 of them out. This left me happy to accept that this was the right Ann Simpson [DS 23/04/2024]
