Age at marriage 19 May 1887 given as 22 - yob 1864 or 1865 Age at 1871 Census 6 - pob just Middlesex Not living with family ( neither Arthur Brown brother nor p arents Harry and Jane Brown) at 1881 Census. She might hav e been a servant somewhere... 1881 Census RG11 Piece 0247 Folio 6 Page 6 has Emma Brown , age 15 born Gospel Oaks, Middx, working as Housemaid a t 1 Pemberton Terrace. Pemberton Terrace is in Upper Hollow ay, same as Bertram St where rest of Browns are registered . Gospel Oak is in Hampstead/Highgate area (overlaps Uppe r Holloway). Argues yob 1865, but age may have been given i n error by employer. 1891 Census has age 24 argues yob 1866 if birthday was in M ay 1901 census shows age at 31 March 1901 was 34, born in Hamp stead. yob would be 1866 1911 Census gives pob as Gospel Oak, age 45 in 1911 Death in Peterborough in 1937. Index entry for Emma Robinso n registered at Peterborough 4Q 1937 3b 239 aged 72. Certif icate confirms this is the right Emma Robinson (death regis tered by daughter Phyllis May). Letter from Lilian Jacob s says her birthday was in May. This would put birth in mi d-1865. Correct. CRI refs found: 4Q1864 Hampstead 1A 547 - cert ordered 14 Feb 2005 - not th e right parents. Further, birthplace (Victoria Mews) was to o far from Gospel Oak to be the same Emma Brown as the on e in service at 1 Pemberton Terrace in 1881. 2Q1865 Pancras 1b 182 YES, this is the one - born in Kentish Town, next door to G ospel Oak and not far from other address at 22 Bertram St. , Islington DOB 14 May 1865 confirms Lilian Jacobs comment and age give n on marriage certificate and death certificate. Marriage to George Robinson not found in FreeBMD - 1911 cen sus says 12 years married - puts it just after David Jacobs ' death in Mar 1899, but may have preceded it if divorced .
