  From Manfred Lindner's notes:- Marrriage License No. 615836, State of Illinois, dated 18 Dec., 1912, Manfred Lindner and Hannah De Costa Marks. Was in the tobacco leaf business for many years in Chicago (before ca 1920), later became a mortgage broker. His precise birthplace was unknown. I was unable to find his birth certificate in the Cook County records for 1879, his date of birth, although the 1880 federal census for Chicago listed his birthplace as Illinois. The answer may lie in the exact time when his parents moved from the small town of Monticello, IA (where his older brother was born), to Chicago. It may thus be that Manfred, Sr. was also born in Iowa, but official records were not kept there until thr year 1880.
