- GRODZICKI, LORRAINE NOLENE The beautiful Lorraine Nolene Grodzicki of Palm Desert, CA, longtime resident of Bonita, CA, passed away peacefully on October 28, 2008, from complications from colon cancer. She was blessed to be with her entire family at bedside as she closed the final chapter of her amazing life. Lorraine was born on December 2, 1925, in Waganui, New Zealand. Intrigued by psychology, she studied to become a psychiatric nurse, as she had great compassion for the ill and was a natural caregiver. She was a worldly woman who traveled abroad in her mid 20's, where in England, she met and married her loving husband of 27 years, Jerry Grodzicki. Together, they dreamed the American dream and eventually came to America, where they settled down to make their home in San Diego, CA and raise their four loving children. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bruce and Roselie Burton, her brother Bruce and loving husband Jerry Grodzicki whom she so devotingly cared for during his battle with pancreatic cancer. Lorraine is survived by her loving children, sons, Christopher, Andrew, and Justin; daughter, Tamara and nine beautiful and blessed grandchildren. Her strong sense of independence, selfless approach to life, elegance and grace, combined with wisdom and strength will never be forgotten. Lorraine has inspired us all and has so greatly touched the hearts and souls of everyone who new her. We will forever miss the amazing twinkle in her eyes, the sparkle of her smile and the most sincere kindness of her heart. The love and joy she added to so many peoples lives is a blessing we are thankful for. Services for Lorraine will be held at Glen Abbey Memorial Park on Thursday, November 6, 2008, at 10:00 a.m. Flowers may be sent to Glen Abbey Memorial Park, Little Chapel of Roses.
