Couldn't find in army deaths 1914-1925 [Looked in 2008]

John L Carney = Alice Cartwright 1916 AMJ Chorlton 8C 1503
Ordered a copy 25/02/2013 on the off chance - Known to be still alive in 1917 as he was a witness to his uncle's 2nd marriage.
See Thomas Guinnane (C 235) = Sarah E Thompson - I received the following information from Eric Hill via Ancestry 08/03/2013
"He died in East Germany on December 10th 1918 from wounds inflicted in the war. He was in the Lancashire Fusiliers and is buried at at war cemetery near Potsdam. I took my mother (his daughter - now sadly passed away) to see his grave a few years ago after the Berlin Wall came down and we could get access. He married my grandmother (Alice Ditchfield) in Widnes and had 2 daughters, sadly one died shortly after being born."
I subsequently contacted the Lancashire Fusiliers Museum
"Many thanks for your email.
The medal cards tell us that 3127 and 37544 John Carney's are the same soldier serving in the 1st/8th Bn (Salford) Bn Lancashire Fusiliers. This information is detailed on the same card.
Soldiers Died database tells us that 37544 John Carney enlisted in Salford and was born in St Anthony's Parish in Lancaster or Lancashire - is there a St Anthony's Church in Salford?. He died on 10/12/1918 in Germany.
I can't confirm that this John Carney is John Leopold Carney. Have you tried the Salford City Reporter newspaper for an obituary/news cutting sometime after the middle of December 1918.
Hope this helps." - I found his army will and applied for it (July 2014)
The lack of mention of his middle name has always left me with that little nagging doubt, but the will proves it is the same man:-
John Leopold Carney married Alice Cartwright.
Alice Cartwright was living with her parents at 33 Irwell St., Widnes in the 1911 census
In his will, John leaves everything to his wife, Alice, who is living at 33 Irwell St., Widnes.
The only anomaly is that the will gives date of death as 18th December 1918 rather than 10th that the CWGC entry has.
