51 1841 & 1851 Censuses show a George Simpson, born KI appx 1809, married toDorothy. I can only find 1 George born about that time in KI so have assumed that this is mine.

61 1851 census lists him being born in Brazil.
The big question is who was his father?
In the 1851 census he is listed as Swaebe, his step-father's name.
His mother married David Swaebe in 1844 after her husband Isaac Ben Moya died in Dec 1843.

Ben Moya-Swaebe, Daniel (I4392)

62 1861 & 1871 Census
Can't find him but the 1881 census shows him as being as mariner, so probably not in port when census taken.
In 1891 he is working on the steamers on Lake Windermere, still married but still no wife.
Can't find him in 1901 so may be back at sea?

Philip Tyson is an extremely rare name and I have found one marrying an Ellen Tunstall in Q2 1875:- 1875 AMJ West Derby 8B 523

Searched for death (all years) and found him in 1908 West Derby, Liverpool. Age at death fits as well.
Tyson, Philip (I713)

66 1861 census his wife, Nancy, says she is a widow, but the London Gazette confirms that Ezra is in prision for debt. So is this just face saving?

'Houser' is apparently a nickname. It was used by his son John when placing a death notice in the Jewish Chronicle.

No obvious parents.
Tyson, Elizabeth (I439)

71 1863 - Dressmaker [Marriage cert]
1881 - Actress [1881 Census]
In the 1881 census they are sharing a sight with 3 families of Lomas -could very well be that they are her family.

73 1863 - Wood turner {Marriage Certificate]

Some confusion over surname (Mackney or Wilton).

In 1881census he gave the whole family as Wilton. His middle name was Mackney. He was also married as Wilton.

Need to check Bury Times for 1890 Q1 to see if his death is mentioned
McNair, Thomas (I134)

74 1867 Samuel Jacobs - Hokitika - Revell Street

Enlisted: 21/02/1853 at Rathkealene, Limerick
First Entry: Jan-Mar 1854 Malta [WO 12/766 - Page 21]
Birthday possibly 22.08.1835 - see Army Record of Pay
This gives his age at entry as 17.5 and he gets no pay until
22.08.1853 as he is under age, so assume 22 Aug is 18th B/day
Discharged: 19/01/1875
Guinnane, Michael (I130)

76 1869-70 Samuel Jacobs - Hokitika - Household - Revell Street

Jacobs, Samuel (I824)

77 1871 Census
There is some uncertainty about this entry.
3 Jacobs children are living with James & Emma Gaston and listed as Nurse Child.
Of the three, only Leah matches in name
Emanuel matches the age for Jacob and Adelaide matches the age for Adeline.
There is no apparant link with the other Jacobs families in the area either in 1871 or 1881 but this obviously doesn't prove anything.
For this reason it should not be assumed that this information is totally correct.

81 1871 Census - Bobbin Turner Tyson, Michael (I118)

82 1872 Farm Servant [Marriage Certificate]

Couldn't sign name on marriage certificate
I had some doubts about the transcription of her marriage cert so
contacted Ulverston Record Office who checked the entry for me whilst on the phone and confirmed that it is definitely Robinson - no doubts.

Looking for birth:
Checked GRO pages for 1848 - 1852 inclusive
Looked for Eleanor Bigland - no likely candidate
Looked for Eleanor Robinson - following possibilities:-

1848 OND Eleanor Robinson Ulverstone XXV 217*
1850 AMJ Eleanor Robinson Wigton XXV 216~
1850 OND Eleanor Robinson Whitehaven XXV 174~

* Added to register between 2 other entries

85 1881 Census - No George of anywhere near the right age listed inCumberland

Sherwen, George (I106)

86 1881 Census gives her birth as London but BMD gives Brighton and this date fits with her age in 1911
Fact Flags: Preferred
Jacobs, Clara (I4333)

87 1881 Census is listed in Grantham as being Grand daughter of Ezra McKenzie. This is strange as he is only 27 at the time. However, his mother (Mary Ann McKenzie) is there, so possibly the reference is to her being the grandparent.

Mawson, Ethel Sylvia (I321)

88 1881 Census lists her as Matilda but BMD has Melinda Castle, Melinda (I2171)
