When she married Churchill she is indexed as both Pate and Braham as he maiden name which tends to confirm Anthony's story.

But why comment about it being before 1937? [DS 13/11/2015]
I have not managed to find anything to match at all.

1911 - The Jolly Farmers was occupied by John Wheatley, 48 years, inn keeper, with his wife Mary Ann Wheatley, and others. . His son, Albert Wheatley, aged 19 years, worked as a sugar boiler at the Mill House sweet factory.

Alfred was charged, along with two others, with Deception and Forgery regarding some Sandwich Island postage stamps.
There appear to have been 29 counts of charges against them, 24 of which were dismissed for lack of proof.
On the emaining 5 counts they were all found guilty.
Sentence for Alfred was Six month's hard labour

The address of 1 Cullum Street is important because it was the shop from which Alfred Benjamin and his partner Sarpy traded from 1888.
