Albert Crispin William Dewbery

Born: 1893 – Quarter 3 in St Saviour, London

In February 1914, 20 year old Albert is a passenger arriving in Southampton onboard the SS Aragon. He is in company with the rest of the Pender Troupe. They had embarked on the ship in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He is listed as an Artiste. On this occasion he gives his name as Albert Crispin Dewbery.

Albert was on the passenger list of the SS Olympic which sailed from Southampton to New York in July 1920. He is listed as Albert William Dewbery.

He gives his age as 26, occupation as Artist and is travelling with the rest of the Pender Troupe, including Archie Leach.

He lists his nearest relative as Alice Dewbery of 49 Danson Road, Manor Place, Walworth.

Based on the information above, a little research find the following:-

Alice is his mother.

In the 1911 census Albert, aged 17,  describes himself as a Theatrical Artist

His family group was:

Father:             Albert Dewbery, a Silk Hatter from London

Mother:           Alice Ann Dewbery nee Reynolds

Sisters:            Alice Ethel Dewbery and Florence Ellen Dewbery

His parents had been married for 24 years.

I can find no other mention of Albert in Passenger Lists and an email from a relative, Hazel Young, in Sept 2019, implies that he may have stayed in the USA.
