On 22nd September 1934 there was an explosion and underground fire at the Gresford Colliery, near Wrexham, North Wales.
261 men lost their lives.
Only 8 bodies were recovered.
One of the casualties was Fred Duckett of Ruabon, my (Ruth) 1st cousin twice removed.
