838 Based on the 1841, 1851 and 1861 census I believe that
James McNair married a girl called Wilton
They had at least 3 children
His wife died
Her sister, Hannah, came to live with James before 1841
James & Hannah then had 2 children Thomas and Elijah
James & Hannah probably never married - in the 1861 census Hannah is listed as unmarried and her two sons are living with her using the name Mc Nair Wilton
MCNAIR, James (I250)

839 Based on the 1841, 1851 and 1861 census I believe that
James McNair married a girl called Wilton
They had at least 3 children
His wife died
Her sister, Hannah, came to live with James before 1841
James & Hannah then had 2 children Thomas and Elijah
James & Hannah probably never married - in the 1861 census Hannah is listed as unmarried and her two sons are living with her using the name Mc Nair Wilton

Born in Helmerby, near Ripon
1841 census shows only 1 family of Wiltons in that village
Possible brother George.
1841 Census HO 107/1249 B12 F006 P07
Also in later census he is listed as George Wilton Jnr, implying father also George.
WILTON, Hannah (I769)

840 Based on what little information I had I decided to have a good search to try and find Eleanor.

Could find no suitable entry for either Bigland or Robinson in GRO indexes.

However, in the IGI there is a suitable baptism:-
14/01/1849 - Cartmel - Eleanor Robinson d/o Mary Robinson
The date and place fit nicely as does the idea of no father.
--------------------------------------------------
Her mother was Mary Robinson.

Armed with this proceeded to look in the censuses.
First stop was 1851 looking for Mary Robinson and baby Eleanor
Didn't find Mary, but believe that I have found Eleanor with her grandparents. (Eleanor is given as Ellenor).

-------------------------------------------------
There is only 1 potential William Bigland who could be her father:
See William Bigland's notes
ROBINSON, Eleanor Bigland (I19)

841 Bayside Cemetery LEVY, Ernest Abraham (I4105)

842 Beadle at Synagogue

843 Became a member of the Great Synagogue?
Event = Syn Rec
Father's Hebrew Name: David Litzin R [R = Mr.]
Notes: "with his wife & sons." Brother of H 374 & 489; GSM 011/7 (1793); Will 1835(?). (See H 764) (See GSM 182/45, 228/13 ?)

Will 1835 is wrong, unless it refers to another family member
JACOBS, Henry (I815)

844 Became aware of her from her mother's death certificate.
Was living at 156 St Stephens Road, Dagenham at the time (6/Jan/1958)

847 Believe death is correct entry. The age is shown as 3 but this is probably weeks or months.
Fact Flags: Preferred
GRAHAM, Robert (I3372)

848 Believe he is a replacement for Albert John CASTLE, Albert James (I2174)
