20551 When Alice Matilda died her death was registered by E A Harrold, daughter.
Eventually found her as Ellen A Cooke marrying John Harrold in 1934
Certainly in 1929 she is Ellen Annie (Electoral Register)
Decided to look for death of suitable person to try and find Christian names.
Searched 1947 - 2004 with inconclusive results.
I have not been able to find a suitable birth entry anywhere.
In March 2012 I was contacted by Derek Stokes who was able to fill in a few more details:
Apparently Ellen and her husband John (Jack) emigrated to Canada and she died there in 1990.

COOKE, Ellen Annie (I764)

20552 When daughter born in 1922 mother's maiden name given as Macallister O'NEILL, Elizabeth (I6918)

20553 When Ernest left Adelaide to move to South Africa with Elizabeth there was no record of a later marriage to Elizabeth and no divorce record for Adelaide.

However, as there is no evidence that Ernest and Adelaide were actually divorced, there shouldn't be a marriage entry.
HART, Ernest Henry (I4406)

20554 When he died in 1862 he had just returned from America according to the newspaper report so probably not in UK 1861 census JACOBS, Morris (I4988)

20555 When he wrote his will in 1843 he had 5 freehold premises.
Interestingly in his will he names his daughter-in-law Milcha, wife of his son Lewis, with money left in trust with Henry. The implication is that Lewis may have financial troubles.
JACOBS, Philip (I876)

20556 When Henry died his last address was shared with his son-in-law John Wales. Peter Wales gives us the following extra information:-

"37 Canterbury Place (at the end of the Lambeth Walk). This was the Wales family home up to the 2nd world war, birthplace of all Alice and John's children including my father. It was hit by a bomb, aimed at Waterloo Station, and completely destroyed. If you have ever seen the film passport to Pimlico, it was actually filmed on the bomb site where Canterbury Place once stood."
JACOBS, Henry (I816)

20557 When her brother dies in 1862 she is referred to as Mrs F Norton so already married by this time. Family: Francis NORTON / Julia JACOBS (F1629)

20558 When her brother, George, dies in 1921 his executor is Annie Mary Hartley (wife of John Hartley). The names are a bit coincidental ?

DOBIE, Annie Mary (I602)

20559 When her mother, Adelaide, petitioned for Divorce from Ernest she states that 'they have no issue' HART, Constance Amelia (I4408)

20560 When her son, Alfred James Canavan is born in 1917 she gives her maiden name as Hogan.
Possibly after her mother married Hogan she adopted his surname, but she was Jacobs when she married.

However, reading her parents' court case of 1898, it throws doubt as to her father being David Jacobs as he claims that the two youngest children at that time (Amelia & James) were William Hogan's
JACOBS, Amelia (I4096)

20561 When his grandfather, Mordecai Capua, died in 1840 Lewis inherited quite a lot of money.

He later inherited from his grandfather's second wife, Hannah Fano.

In the 1851 census he is in debtor's prison. and it believed that his wife has by this fled to Australia with much of his money.

PESMAN, Lewis (I4043)

20562 When his marriage failed Sydney moved from Liverpool to Wallasey. ?
His father David had died in 1903 and the Jacobs of Ranelagh Street clothing?business became owned and run jointly by Sydney and his younger brother Julius. ?

Louis David had left the business and moved to the south east where he was involved in cigar and tobacco sales.
Sydney was able to travel to work easily by train from Wallasey to Liverpool Central Station which is in Ranelagh Street. ?

Sydney and Julius both retired in the late 1920s and the business was sold to Lewis's. ?

Sydney enjoyed his retirement by travelling on cruise liners, particularly the Arandora Star. ?
He has left a fascinating collection of photos from his various travels.

Sydney lived in New Brighton in a house that comprised two apartments. ?
Sydney lived in the ground floor apartment and his son Cecil and daughter-in-law Rita lived in the upstairs apartment.

In May 1941 the Lewis's building in Ranelagh Street was hit by a German bomb. ?The resulting flames from the Lewis's building caused the Jacobs building also to catch fire. ?The two buildings were on opposite corners at the top of Ranelagh Street, the Jacobs building extending round the corner into Lime Street opposite the Adelphi Hotel.
JACOBS, Sydney (I6315)

20563 When his son, Nathaniel Lionel, marries in 1915 he gives his father as Lewis Francis, deceased.

In 1894 when Nathaniel goes to Colls Road school his parent/guardian is listed as George.
FRANCIS, George [Lewis] (I6375)

20564 When his son, Rachford dies, George is named as Colonel George W Harris in obituaries HARRIS, George W (I5114)

20565 When his wife remarries in 1885 she does so as Mary Harper, Widow.
But I can't find a death suitable for him. [DS 05/03/2022]
Fact Flags: Preferred
HARPER, James (I521)

20566 When his wife was buried in 1807 at Ducking Pond Lane the burial records list her as being the wife of JACOBS David (David b. Coppel Letson)
Ducking Pond Lane is shown on the 1830 map as Ducking Pond Row and the burial ground on North Street (modern Brady Street)
JACOBS, David (I897)

20567 When Margaret Sanderson is born in 1919 she is listed as 4th child, John Willima is listed as 2nd child so this must be a child between the two
Fact Flags: Preferred
SANDERSON, Unknown (I8515)

20568 When she marries she names her father as Thomas Martin, deceased.
However it looks more likely that she was illegitimate.
Her mother was Martin by birth and there is no father listed on her birth certificate.
MARTIN, Hannah (I69)

20569 When their two later children are born, Thomas is a Mariner and a Pilot.
There is a marriage for a Thomas Ashburner, Mariner of Lancaster and Margaret Cawse that took place in Aldingham on 26/Oct/1780.

This is a possible but need more proof.
Family: Thomas ASHBURNER / Margaret [ASHBURNER] (F642)

20570 When Thomas Guinnane married Sarah Elizabeth in 1917 we get some information
On the marriage certificate she gives
Age: 29 (so born Circa 1888)
Status: Widow (so has previous husband)
Father: John Joseph Thompson

It is her father's name which causes the confusion.
Her father was actually John Joseph Towers
She married a William Thompson in 1908
What I think has happened is that she has been asked her name, Thompson
Then asked her father's name and she has just said John Joseph
It has then been assumed that her father was Thompson.
