    Other Events and Attributes:

    • Reference Number: S 0002aP

    Notes:

Looking at the marriage bond we get the names of another Simpson - James, a Smith.
Both Thomas and James were from the parish of Dalton
    Thomas was a husbandman.
It is likely that James was either Thomas's brother or father.
Did they need the bond because Isabel was under 21?

    Birth:
There are several candidates for his birth.
1736 - Sep, Dalton, son of James of Newbarns
1736/7* - Feb Aldingham, son of Richard of Newbarns
1738 - Jul. Dalton, son of James of Pesholms
*pre 1752 so 1st part of year is mixed date

Based on the fact that his marriage bond mentions James Simpson, I am inclined to think that his father was James.

That reduces us to 2 options September 1736 and July 1738
Based on his age at death (80) in 1817 that leads us to the 1736 entry.

Thomas married Isabel POSTLETHWAITE on 14 Nov 1767 in Dalton in Furness, Lancashire, England. Isabel (daughter of George POSTLETHWAITE and Ann CASE) was born about 1747; was christened on 1 Nov 1747 in Aldingham, Lancashire, England; died in Apr 1830 in Kirkby Ireleth, Lancashire, England; was buried on 10 Apr 1830 in Kirkby Ireleth, Lancashire, England. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

  2. 5.  Isabel POSTLETHWAITE was born about 1747; was christened on 1 Nov 1747 in Aldingham, Lancashire, England (daughter of George POSTLETHWAITE and Ann CASE); died in Apr 1830 in Kirkby Ireleth, Lancashire, England; was buried on 10 Apr 1830 in Kirkby Ireleth, Lancashire, England.

    Other Events and Attributes:

    • Name: Isabella Postlethwaite
    • Reference Number: S 0002bP

    Notes:

Looking at the Ancestry trees there is a common belief that Isabel's parents are George and Ann nee Case.

Given Isabel's DOB based on her age at death, I am happy that she was born/baptised in 1747.

Family search returns only1 suitable set of parents George Postlethwaite and Ann.

Family Search and the Lancashire Online Parish Clerks only find one suitable match and so I have gone with that.

    St Cuthberts

    Died:
The age is taken from LPRS 127 which was, I believe, transcribed from the registers, not microfilm.
Several places site the age as 32 which I think is a mistranscription.
FMP have right age but have indexed it as E Isabel

    Buried:
The age is taken from LPRS 127 which was, I believe, transcribed from the registers, not microfilm.

    Other Events and Attributes:

    Notes:

I can find two possible baptisms in Family Search.
    Unfortunately both are suitable.
    Both are Dalton
    1706 and 1712
These would make George approximately 33 or 27 at his marriage.
Based on the belief that his wife was baptised in 1716, I have opted for 1712

George married Ann CASE on 28 Oct 1739 in Dalton in Furness, Lancashire, England. Ann (daughter of John CASE and Margaret PEARSON) was born about 1716 in Aldingham, Lancashire, England; was christened on 17 Jun 1716 in Aldingham, Lancashire, England. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
